THE FIRST EIGHTEEN: New York Times Celebrates Parsons MFA Fashion Design and Society

In an unassuming raw space in an office building in the Garment District, Parsons hosted an auspicious debut for the first graduating class of students from its new MFA in Fashion Design and Society. For an audience of industry leaders, including alumna Donna Karan, Marie Claire Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles, fashion consultant Julie Gilhart, and others, the students presented a compelling installation of their thesis collections, the culmination of two years of intensive study at Parsons.

The highly developed work caught the eye of one of the world’s most influential publications, the New York Times, which today published a lengthy article and slide show profiling the program and the students. Next up is a fashion show during New York Fashion Week in September, where the students will debut their collections to the global fashion community.
