Parsons is Fashion Week


It’s the start of Fashion Week this week in New York, and The School of Fashion at Parsons has something for you to do every day. Whether you want to see stunning student work, hear Dean Simon Collins talk menswear with the family of late designer Massimo Osti, or watch a livestream of the first runway show by designers in Parsons MFA Fashion Design and Society program, we’ve got you covered. PPR + The Fancy x Parsons “Empowering Imagination” Winners Jin Kay + Melanie Seligman
Barney’s New York, 66 Madison Avenue, 8th floor
Throughout Fashion Week, students can visit Barney’s New York flagship on Madison Avenue to see the work of Parsons BFA Fashion graduates Jin Kay and Melanie Seligman, who won a competition sponsored by the French luxury goods leader PPR and The Fancy. Read more about the partnership here.

MADE for Peroni Young Designer Award Alumni competition
Judging Event: September 5, 2:00–4:00 p.m.
MADE at Milk Studios, 450 W 15th Street
Come and see who gets selected as the winner of the MADE for Peroni Young Designer Awards (MFPYDA), a fashion design award open exclusively to Parsons graduates in the areas of Womenswear and Menswear design. Congratulations to the finalists: Nolan Bellavance, Gigi Burris, Jonathan Cohen, Angela Gao, Elisabeth Kennedy, Hernan Lander, Laura Siegel, Samantha Sleeper, Brandon Sun, Tara LaTour, and Laura Zukaite – all of their work will be on view in the MADE at Milk Studios gallery through September 13.

School of Fashion Conversation Series “Celebrating Ideas from Massimo Osti.”
Tishman Auditorium, 66 West 12th Street
Fashion Dean Simon Collins will be in conversation with Daniela Osti, wife of the late, legendary Italian menswear designer Massimo Osti, and Esquire’s Nick Sullivan. It’s all to celebrate the legacy of the designer and the release of a new book on his legacy, Ideas From Massimo Osti.

Fashion’s Night Out is one of the most-anticipated parts of Fashion Week. Join us to celebrate the #ParsonsMFAFashion graduating class, with a selection of their work on display in the store windows.

Parsons MFA Fashion Design and Society Runway Presentation
Parsons Livestream
Join us on our brand-new Livestream page to watch the Parsons MFA 2012 runway show. All of this year’s 18 graduates of the MFA in Fashion Design and Society program will be showcasing their collections on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at MADE Fashion Week. The show will be Livestreamed from this page starting at 11:00 a.m. EST. In the runway show, these designers will present their personal vision, with a focus on process and identity, through a body of work that encompasses highly executed, innovative clothing and accessory collections.  This first graduating class is truly international – its 18 students represent Australia, China, Italy, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Norway, Peru, Switzerland, Taiwan, The Netherlands, United Kingdom, and United States.
