Drama’s New Voices Playwrights Festival
The New School for Drama will continue its tradition of presenting the freshest writing talent at this year’s New Voices Playwrights Festival, running from February 28–March 8, March 14-22, and April 4-12, 2013. The festival will feature five original plays by this year’s graduating MFA’s playwrights in productions featuring Drama’s actors and directors, as well as a new work by alum, Jennie Berman Eng (’07).
This year’s lineup includes:

by Jennie Berman Eng (Drama ’07), directed by Whitney Gail Aronson - A Modern Feeling
by Jason Kim, directed by Kai-Hsiang Tu - The Spider & The Wasp
by Alice Pencavel, directed by Christie Marie Clark - Aperture
by phillip y. gerson, directed by K.L. Cullom

The festival is advised by The Play Company’s founding producer Kate Leowald, who is renowned for her support of new work and new actors, and bringing them to the stage. Recent playwriting graduates include Princess Grace Award recipient Matthew Paul Olmos, Bekah Brunstetter (OOH RAH!, The Atlantic), Janine Nabers (Annie Bosh is Missing , Naked Angels ), Gabe McKinley (CQ/CX, The Atlantic), and Daniel Pearle, whose 2012 New Voices production, A Kid Like Jake, will play at Lincoln Center’s LCT3 later this season.
