The New School News

People Get Ready: The end of the semester is coming. What do you need to do before it gets here?

Are you sitting down? As of today, there’s less than two months of classes left in the spring 2013 semester. Less than seven weeks, in fact. That’s not much time to do the dozens and dozens of things we all promised to do “by the end of the year.” Maybe it’s time for a little goal pruning. Instead of trying to get to everything, what’s just one thing you absolutely have to get done before the end of the semester?

Just before spring break, the New School News dropped in at a few of our downtown buildings to ask students from several of the university’s divisions, “What’s one thing you have to get done before the end of the semester?” Here’s what they had to say.

Elle McGrath (freshman, Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts); Diana Bartlette (freshman, Parsons The New School for Design)
“We have to go to Montreal, to visit our friends.”

Matt Chalk (junior, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music) about his friend/rival Ben Katz (senior, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music)

“I want to beat him in every game of chess by the end of the year.”

Caine Thompson (graduate student, Media Studies)

“Finish filming my thesis project. It’s a documentary on New York’s breaking culture and its representations of masculinity.”

Lessie Vonner (sophomore, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music)

“I’ve been writing a lot of music, so I’d like to release an album before the end of the semester”

Devin Liz (sophomore, Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts)

“That’s a difficult question, because there’s so much. I have a huge list! So, to finish that list, I guess?”

Catherine Uribe (freshman, Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts)

“I’m thinking yoga. I need to figure out where to go to get certified as an instructor.”
