Parsons alum Lands on 30 Under 30 List
As a student at Parsons School of Design, Alex Orley (Fashion Design ’12) learned a thing or two about design—and collaboration.
In 2012, he and his brother, Matthew, and Samantha Florence, his future sister-in-law, launched their eponymous company, a knitwear line for men.
Their synergy yielded rapid results: in a span of a year, they expanded into full-blown ready-to-wear-collections—a remarkable leap for such a young company.
It’s no surprise, then, that Orley and crew recently landed in the Art & Style category of Forbes’ prestigious 30 Under 30 list.
“Matthew, Alex and Matthew’s wife Samantha design and produce classic menswear with a youthful touch,” Forbes writes.
Praise has come to Orley from all over the fashion world: in 2014, they were finalists for the Council of Fashion Designers of America/Vogue Fashion Fund Award; un 2015, they’re expanding again—this time, into women’s wear.
New School alumni and faculty have for many years made their mark on the 30 Under 30 List. Past honorees include fashion designers Alexander Wang, Tanya Taylor, Chris Benz, Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs; magazine editors Rachel Rosenfelt and Valentine Uhovski; handbag designer Aimee Kestenberg, milliner Gigi Burris, style blogger Leandra Medine, advertising director Graham Douglas and actress Nina Arianda.
