Parsons Named Best Art and Design School in the Country
The New School’s Parsons School of Design was just named the Best College for Art and Design in the United States by Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings, a London-based “global provider of specialist higher education and careers information and solutions,” according to its website.
Parsons was also named number two in the world in the same category.
“We are honored by this recognition. During the past decade Parsons has been able to make major developments in our curriculum, launch innovative new graduate programs, and advance research and scholarship in art and design,” said Parsons School of Design Executive Dean Joel Towers. “This work is built on our extraordinary faculty and our integration with the New School enabling deep cross disciplinary collaboration among design, the humanities, and social research.”
This is the first year QS has listed the world’s top art and design schools. Their rankings highlight the world’s top universities in 36 individual subjects, based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact.
The results are informed by the expert opinion of 85,062 academics and 41,910 employers, alongside the analysis of 17.3 million research papers and over 100 million citations.
“The ranking shows that academic excellence is widely distributed around the globe,” QS Head of Research Ben Sowter said in a statement. “The 894 universities ranked are based in 60 different countries.”
