Center for New York City Affairs Launches Urban Matters Blog
From Shanghai to Sao Paolo, Mumbai to Miami, and Lagos to Los Angeles, ours is a predominantly urban world.
For the first time in human history, the majority of people on Earth are city dwellers. As this trend accelerates, problems in a range of areas, from education to immigration to child welfare, are bound to arise.
In an effort to address these issues, The New School’s Center for New York City Affairs is launching Urban Matters, a new weekly blog/e-blast that will highlight ideas and insights on such issues impacting the urban environment.
Each week, Urban Matters will feature a single piece on a current policy topic or big idea. In the inaugural issue, Rev. Rubén Austria, executive director of the Bronx-based Community Connections for Youth, writes about the pope’s visit to a Pennsylvania prison and the religious leader’s dedication to criminal justice reform.
