In Memory of Roy Hargrove
The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School mourns the loss of our alumnus, friend, and great trumpeter, Roy Hargrove.
A multiple Grammy and Downbeat award winner, Roy Hargrove was one of the finest musicians of his generation. His trumpet playing was as good as it gets, no matter the style, or whether he played a ballad or lightning fast.
The School of Jazz and Contemporary Music at The New School will always be proud of Roy Hargrove and will always consider him to be among the best that has ever attended The New School.
Our hearts are made heavy by this loss and we offer our most sincere condolences to his wife Aida, daughter Kamala, mother Jacklyn, and his brother Brian.
