Acclaimed Musician Travis Scott Announces New Partnership with Parsons School of Design

Rapper and activist Travis Scott recently announced the launch of the Cactus Jack Foundation to inspire and provide educational and creative resources for the next generation of youth. The foundation’s first call to action is the launch of The HBCU Waymon Webster Scholarship program which will cover tuition fees for HBCU students for this school year.

The foundation launch includes a multi-level national partnership with The New School’s Parsons School of Design, as well as a partnership with the City of Houston across Parks and Education with the unveiling of Cactus Jack Gardens, a community based agriculture program across city wide elementary schools.

Scott’s collaboration with Parsons will include an unprecedented authentic fashion design program created in partnership with the Cactus Jack Foundation. This new program will bring Parson’s world-renowned curriculum to Houston, providing design education to the city’s youth in partnership with My Brother’s Keeper, Houston. The online certification program will be available to youth nationwide via special scholarships.

“Parsons is proud to partner with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation to bring fashion education to high school students who have traditionally been underrepresented in creative disciplines,” said Rachel Schreiber, Executive Dean of Parsons. “Parsons and Travis Scott share a deep commitment to educating young designers who are just beginning their exploration of fashion and design. We are excited to collaborate with the Cactus Jack Foundation to offer this immersive course led by Parsons award-winning faculty.”

The mission of the Cactus Jack Foundation is to empower and enrich the lives of youth by providing access to education and creative resources to ensure long term success. The foundation believes that youth should not be prevented from attaining their lifetime goal and is committed to extending educational opportunities to all, regardless of their circumstances to achieve their dreams.
