The Mannes Orchestra at Symphony Space
The Mannes Orchestra performs a free concert at the Peter Norton Symphony Space, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, on Tuesday, November 23, at 8:00 p.m. The program includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat, op. 60, featuring Isaac Selya, graduating MM conducting major; and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, op. 47, featuring Taeyoung Lee, graduating MM conducting major.
Praised by the New York Times for its youthful exuberance,, the Mannes Orchestra performs a comprehensive symphonic repertoire each year, ranging from classical to modern, and collaborates with the Mannes Opera in two productions at the Kaye Playhouse. In addition to solo recitals, chamber concerts, and performances with student conductors, the full Mannes Orchestra will give nine public performances during the 2010’2011 season under the direction of David Hayes, director of orchestral and conducting studies.
