
Reed Krakoff, AAS Fashion Design ’89, Joins Tiffany and Company as Chief Artistic Officer
Tiffany and Co., the venerable luxury jewelry house, was immortalized in the 1961 Audrey Hepburn film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Since then, Hollywood stars and international royalty have worn priceless creations, while teenagers across the country have sported more affordable sterling silver bangles.
However, recently Tiffany and Co. has struggled due to a slowdown in luxury spending., Reed Krakoff, AAS Fashion Design ’89, has been hired to reinvigorate the storied brand. As Chief Artistic Officer, a newly created role, Krakoff will direct design for all jewelry and luxury accessories, and will lead the brand’s artistic and design vision with respect to stores, e-commerce, marketing, and advertising.
“I’m honored to join Tiffany as Chief Artistic Officer and fully dedicate my creative focus to this storied American luxury brand,” Krakoff said in a statement. “The exceptional opportunity to further Tiffany’s rich creative legacy of design and craftsmanship, and join the incredible talent within Tiffany, is truly inspiring.”
Krakoff is no stranger to American fashion, having cut his teeth at Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger before landing the top creative job at Coach. In 2010, he launched his own label, Reed Krakoff, where he, dressed the former First Lady Michelle Obama on multiple occasions. He’s one of the many Parsons alumni who has helped turns Mrs. Obama into a style icon.
