
New School Students Share Excitement for New Academic Year
Now that the 2019-2020 academic year has begun, we asked students from throughout The New School what they are most excited about, and heard a wide variety of answers. From senior capstone projects and making new friends, to the natural excitement and nerves about graduating, it’s clear that New School students are eager to begin a new academic year.

Marisa Herman, Literary Studies and Photography ‘22: “I’m most excited about shooting video. Specifically looking at narrative and documentary.” Mithul Bajore, Theater and Psychology ‘22: “I’m most excited about my new classes, mainly my IHD Class. It’s a theater class where I work with 1st and 2nd graders in another school.”
Reed Stolzenfels, Theater and Writing ‘22: “I’m really excited to be back in the city. There’s a certain energy here that I don’t get anywhere else. Just to create with my friends is really exciting.”
Valerie Hsieh, Strategic Design and Management ‘20: “I’m really excited to enter my last year of courses. These are the courses I’m interested in most because they are about business. I have both excitement and nerves because it’s my last year.”
Duncan Williams, Communication Design ’22: “I’m excited that I was able to get into my program, and about being in my core classes.” Sofia Luetich, Jazz ‘22: “I’m most excited to meet new people because I took a gap year last year, so I’m with a whole new group of people this year.”
