Meme Pas Peur! Lecture with MAD Associate Curator Sophie Motch
Musée des Arts Décoratifs Associate Curator Sophie Motch spoke to first year HDCS students about her exhibition « Meme Pas Peur! Collection de la Baronne Henri de Rothschild » at the Fondation Bemberg Musée in Toulouse, featuring the Baroness de Rothchild’s strange & unusual collection of skulls.
Despite the sizable collection of about 200 objects, relatively little is known about it or why the Baroness was collecting them. Sophie guided students through her footsteps to better understand how an exhibition like this is produced, and the research necessary to unlock as many of its secrets as possible. The Baroness’ collection is part of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs permanent holdings.
