Madame Gres: Junior Fall Finals
Third-year students in Fashion Design were given the task to reinterpret Madame Grès, an haute couture house that disappeared in the ’80s. How must one interpret and modernize a brand while keeping its values, history, and techniques of the house? This is a common theme in the fashion industry, and students took this task on. After analyzing Madame Grès design’s and learning her history and brand identity, students were asked to apply personal designs and concepts in order to create 10 looks and a final prototyped look. Collections of pleats and Neutral colors (iconic to Madame Grès) were reinterpreted through personal themes and were shown to the jury including:
