Le Sacre du Printemps & Hi für Caudwell
On March 27th, members from our Bodies in Space class ventured back to the Centre National de la Danse in Pantin to watch two concept performances titled, “Hi für Caudwell” &“Le Sacre du Printemps.“
The first performance, Hi für Caudwell, is an 3xtract from the project Mouvements für Lachenmann, translated to Staging of an Event Concert. Designed in honor of the seventy years of the German composer, Hi für Caudwell is the first piece of a series of shows written from the musical interpretation of existing works. The performance consisted of two guitarists and two composers or mimed guitarists, totaling four performers. Seperated by screens, the mimed guitarists presented the sounds of the guitarists without the presence of the guitar instruments, showing a disruption between the usual identification between the visible and the audible.
The second performance, Le Sacre du Printemps, translated to “The Rite of Spring” was an inversion where instead of a choreography for dancers, Xavier Le Roy sets about staging the gestures of the conductor as he directed a performance to music. Le Roy examined the relationship between music and movement.
Overall, the two performances were sold out, and lasted a total of 70 minutes. Le Roy will be presenting a secondary performance of a different means on Friday March 29th. More information regarding the above stated performances can be found on the CND website.
