Cross-learning Experience : Introducing Design Fiction
This week, First Year students in Integrative Seminar 2 had a chance to meet Senior AMT Eman Muhammad and participate in her project pertaining to biopolitics and design fiction.
After a presentation of her project where she introduced current discussions on biopolitics, sustainability, she then explained how she engages with these questions as a designer and artist.
After this first step, she facilitated an ideation workshop that allowed the students to reflect actively on the diverse impacts of sustainable solutions. Students started to brainstorm their ideas, they conceived original alternative scenarios that they shared and discussed with Eman for her to broaden the reach of her project.
This activity allowed First Year students to better understand how research, writing and making come together at a senior level, while offering the opportunity to a more advanced student to test and refine her project.
