Parsons Paris

MAFS Project in collaboration with Ami Paris

On the 20th of September, the MAFS second-year class, ‘Fashion, Branding & Communication’ taught by Justin Morin went on an excursion through Paris’s 1st arrondissement, observing and looking at perfume stores. Their route started from Parsons Paris to rue Saint Honoré, students continued on Rue de Rivoli, rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, looking at different windows including Guerlain, Fragonard, & Other Stories. The students also analyzed how the different store displays were through the presentation of their clothing and accessories. Examples included: Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, and Missoni. This excursion through Paris’s 1er will assist students in their fashion branding project.

Each semester of the Parsons Paris Fashion Studies class “Fashion, Branding, and Communication” with Justin Morin brings students a new practice-based project in which they learn about art direction, fashion branding, and communication strategies.
We are excited to announce that throughout the Fall 2019 semester, students will collaborate closely with Ami Paris to imagine a fragrance campaign for the brand.
Students have already started to study recent international fragrance campaigns to analyze and understand the narrative and storytelling behind them. They also learned about the the history of perfume through a lecture by Antoine Bucher of Diktats Bookstore.
Further, students had the opportunity last week to visit the Ami Paris retaildesign space, as well as WHSmith and Fondation d’entreprise Ricardto gain inspiration for their projects!

An extremely exciting project, with updates coming soon!
