Mixed Media Illustration as a Creative Tool for Design
At Parsons Paris, the Sophomore students acquire many methods of communicating their ideas in 2D during the Visual Communication 2 Studio led by designer Yong Andersson. Sophomore Zoe Nellen has shown a strong interest for illustration and has continued to progress while being trained remotely by her professor during the confinement period. In describing her creative process the student explains: âI usually start with a simple pencil sketch of a silhouette in movement that I find interesting, then I try to find shapes within it by adding colors and textureâ. Zoe blends the use of pencils and markers with the addition of other materials such as fabric and plastic. Finally she refines the drawings’ details, anticipating its use in Design Studio 2 where she will realize her design in full scale.
