A Message from the Co-Chairs of the President Search Committee of the Board of Trustees
To The New School community,
As we wrote in our last message, one of the chief ways we are seeking the community’s input is through a series of discussion forums with stakeholder groups. Over the past several weeks, the Search Committee has hosted Town Hall listening sessions for faculty, students, and staff. We have met with the Faculty, Staff and Student Senates, the Social Justice Committee, and senior leaders across the university. We have also commenced a series of meetings with faculty and leaders in their colleges. And we have been hearing from others via our Community Survey.
On behalf of the Search Committee and the Board of Trustees, we want to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has devoted time to participate at this important stage of the search. The engagement has been robust and your input has helped us understand the values, priorities and opportunities for The New School that the next President must understand, embrace and advance.
There are two more Town Hall Listening Sessions that are open to any member of the New School community:
Monday, April 29, 9:00am – 10:30am
Tishman Auditorium, Room U100
University Center, 63 Fifth Avenue
Monday, May 6, 5:15pm – 6:45pm
Tishman Auditorium, Room U100
University Center, 63 Fifth Avenue
The online survey also remains open through May 6th. We will share a summary of the key themes emerging from the listening sessions and survey on the website in May. These insights will inform the development of the position profile to help us to attract a broad and diverse pool of outstanding candidates. We expect to have that completed by mid-May.
Thank you again for your continued participation in this important process.
On behalf of the Search Committee,
Joseph R. Gromek
