Student Health Services at The New School

A message from Tracy Robin, Associate Provost for Student Health Services

Dear Students,

I hope you’re all adjusting well to the start of the fall semester. I am writing today to make sure you’re aware of the resources the university offers to support your health and wellbeing. At Student Health Services (SHS), we provide medical, psychological, and wellness support services to our students year-round.

Wellness Resources

Wellness and Health Promotion (WHP) is the primary prevention branch of SHS, working collaboratively to foster a culture of wellness throughout the university. The Director meets with students one-on-one, runs the Peer Health Advocacy program, develops multidisciplinary partnerships & innovative workshops, and provides group-level interactive programs. These programs cover a variety of health, wellness, and safety topics, including stress reduction, auricular acupuncture and acupressure, body positivity, sexual health, sex positivity, sexual & interpersonal violence prevention, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections and diseases (STI/STDs), and harm reduction, including overdose prevention with dispensing of naloxone. Student Health Insurance Plan Information and Resources

Students on the university’s health plan can look on the UnitedHealthcare StudentResources site to find local in-network providers and other resources. The deadline for students with their own comparable health insurance coverage to submit an online waiver form is today, September 11, 2023. Students who have not submitted a waiver form or enrollment form will be automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan next week.
