Serve as a Student Conduct Review Panel Volunteer

A message from: Kamla Holland, Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards and Brianna Demorcy, Associate Director of Student Conduct and Community Standards

Dear New School Community,

‌The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards is seeking students, faculty, and staff volunteers to serve on our Conduct Review Panel, Title IX Review Panel, and Appeals Panel. Your participation and support is essential to upholding the university’s values and ensuring a fair conduct review process. Panels are held both in person and virtually.

‌Volunteer Opportunities

  • Conduct Review Panel: An important component of the conduct process is the Conduct Review Panel. The Conduct Review Panel is a group of New School community members who hear higher-level cases of alleged conduct code violations. The panel reviews evidence, asks questions, determines whether or not a student is responsible for the reported incident, and recommends a resolution or sanction.
  • Title IX Review Panel: Allegations of sexual misconduct or gender-based discrimination are investigated by the University’s Title IX investigator. Student Conduct and Community Standards coordinates the Title IX Review Panel to hear these sensitive cases. Volunteers will be asked if they’re comfortable serving on the Title IX Review Panel and will attend an additional training session.
  • Appeals Panel: The New School offers students the ability to expunge their disciplinary record by demonstrating growth and development since the time of the reported incident. The Appeals Panel will review student appeals after their case is heard during the Review Panel, as well as process expungement requests.
