2025-2026 Student Health Insurance Plan

A message from: Tracy Robin, Associate Provost for Student Health Services

Dear Students,

‌We have good news to share about the Student Health Insurance Plan the university will offer students for the 2025-2026 school year.

‌We will continue to partner with Aetna Student Health (ASH). Although the university is not able to announce the exact premium while the plan agreement is pending final review by New York State, we are not expecting a premium increase for 2025-2026, and all of the benefits included in last year’s plan will remain the same:

  • Expanded gender-affirming benefits, including coverage for electrolysis, voice therapy,  chest binders, and facial feminization surgeries
  • Access to Aetna’s trained Personal Navigators when students have questions about benefits, claims, and providers for gender-affirming health care
  • Aetna Dental care & Aetna Vision care
  • No deductible for neuropsychological testing services
  • $20 copay per visit for in-network therapy
  • Benefit plan documents will be available in Simple Chinese and Korean languages

When Can I Enroll or Waive for Fall 2025?

All eligible students are automatically billed for the Student Health Insurance Plan each semester upon registration. Students must enroll in the plan or request a waiver by September 9, 2025. The enrollment and waiver forms are now available at universityhealthplans.com/tns. If you are planning to enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan, we recommend submitting the enrollment form at least two weeks before the start date of the plan, which is August 20, 2025, to ensure your coverage is active when the plan begins.

The plan documents will be available on the University Health Plans website once the plan is approved by New York State later this summer.

If you have questions about enrollment, the waiver process, or plan details, please visit our FAQ or contact University Health Plans directly by emailing info@univhealthplans.com. Student Health Services staff are also here to answer your questions and can be reached at studentinsurance@newschool.edu.
