Dear New School Community,

‌The start of the 2025-2026 academic year is fast approaching, which means it is time to begin thinking about our 28th Annual Block PartyThis year’s event will be held on Thursday, August 28th, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on West 12th Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue

Like in years past, this will be an opportunity for students, staff, and faculty to enjoy warm weather, eat great food from local vendors, and participate in a variety of activities such as:

  • ‌Carnival rides‌ & Inflatables
  • ‌Caricatures 
  • Giveaways
  • ‌Great music
  • ‌Meeting campus resources and student organizations
  • ‌And so much more!

RSVP today, and don’t forget to bring your New School ID card to access all the fun! If you want to skip the check-in line at the Block Party, you can pick up a wristband at Convocation or at the Student Hub from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. You won’t want to miss this chance to celebrate with The New School community!

Before the Block Party, we invite you to celebrate the start of a new academic year at the University Convocation. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 28th, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., in the Auditorium at 66 W 12th Street. In-person registration is currently full, but you can join the waitlist or watch the livestream. Whether in person or online, we hope you’ll take part in this tradition and then join us right outside for the Block Party!‌

To apply to any of our Master's, Doctural, Professional Studies Diploma, Graduates Certificate, or Associate's programs, or to apply to the Bachelor's Program for Adult and Transfer Students, complete and submit the New School Online Application.
