Welcome, Narwhals, to the Fall Semester!
A message from: Dr. Robert Mack, Vice Provost for Student Success and Engagement
Dear Students,
Welcome to the start of the semester! Whether you are beginning your journey at The New School or continuing your studies, I am delighted that you are part of our community.
I want to take this opportunity to reintroduce myself and let you know a little more about the work we do in Student Success. I began my career in higher education 25 years ago, driven by a passion for supporting students and building community. That same passion guides my work here at The New School, where everyone’s story matters and every student deserves the tools and support to thrive. As President Towers mentioned in his message last week, your time here will be filled with adventures and excitement, and also moments of challenge and growth. You don’t have to navigate this journey alone.
In Student Success, our mission is to create an inclusive community where every student has the ability to achieve personal and academic success. Our staff consists of dedicated advisors, higher education leaders, medical practitioners, mental health counselors, and student support specialists. Together with campus partners, we are dedicated to equipping you with the tools to succeed in an ever-changing world.
We are living in a time filled with rapid change and complex challenges. As Provost Kessler noted in his welcome message, generations before us have faced moments of uncertainty, and what has always carried people forward is a commitment to learning and community. Lean on each other and, most importantly, lean on us for support. Below are just a few resources to help you throughout your time here at the university:
