2025-2026 Student Trustee Application and Nominations

Dear New School Community,
We are pleased to invite applications for two Student Trustees for the 2025-26 academic year. The Board of Trustees is seeking one (1) undergraduate student and one (1) graduate student to serve a one-year term on the Board of Trustees in a voting role. The Student Trustees provide an important student voice and perspective on a range of matters in front of the Board.
Please review the general information below and consider whether this role is for you.
Term
The Student Trustee term runs from September 2025 through May 2026. Student Trustees must attend all four (4) board meetings, which take place in September, December, February/March, and May.
Specific dates will be shared in advance of the Fall 2025 semester. Additionally, the new Student Trustees will be invited for a short meet and greet during the final spring 2025 Board of Trustees meeting in May.
Criteria
Students interested in applying for the Student Trustee position must meet the following criteria:
- Undergraduate students must be a rising sophomore or junior when applying.
- Graduate students must have been enrolled for one entire academic semester and be starting a second.
- Students must have demonstrated leadership/success inside and outside the classroom.
- Students must be in good financial, academic, and conduct standing with the university.
- Students must maintain the values of The New School.
- Students must be matriculated full-time.
