A Special Concert to Benefit Nepal At The New School
Dear TCDS Alumni and Friends,
Copied below is a letter from New School Professor, and close friend of TCDS, Ashok Gurung, who has been tirelessly organizing a benefit concert, to be held at the New School, which will raise much needed funds to support relief efforts and efforts to rebuild Nepal following the devastating earthquake that struck there last month. Tickets are still available for this very special event and if you can’t make it on May 16th you can follow the link below to donate. We hope to see you there!
First, I want to thank all those who have made generous donations to support an International Benefit Concert titled Hamro Nepal. I am delighted that many of you plan to attend Hamro (Our) Nepal Concert on May 16 in New York City. Within the past six days, because of your generosity, we have raised $35,498! With additional support, I am hopeful to meet our goal of raising at least $100,000 for addressing the needs of the earthquake victims in Nepal. For those of you who are still juggling your schedule and haven’t had time to contribute, I am writing to urge you to please do so as soon as possible (seating is limited).
As you know, it has been over ten days since a tragic earthquake devastated Nepal. Presently, the number of death has reached 7,611 and expect to surpass 10,000. There are many more persons wounded, homeless, and left in need of basic provisions. The enormity of the devastation demands massive generosity and sustained engagement in the rebuilding efforts of Nepal.
India China Institute (ICI) is partnering with a not-for-profit organization, the Gurung Society in USA, and will host an International Benefit Concert titled Hamro Nepal. The Hamro (our) Nepal concert will take place on May 16, 2015 from 8:00 pm-10:30 pm in the University Center’s Tishman Auditorium at 63 Fifth Ave, New York City. The event will be featuring renowned Nepali and international artists and bring together a diverse community to support the earthquake victims in Nepal.
