Charles Allison

 Charles Allison is Associate Professor of Professional Practice, Finance, Energy Policy, and Sustainability Management and Faculty Director of The Finance Lab at The New School. In addition to these roles, he also is Chair of the Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship Degree Program for the Bachelor’s Program for Adults & Transfer Students (BPATS) and Chair of the Advisory Committee on Investor Responsibility (ACIR) at The New School. Professor Allison has taught at The New School since 2006 and has more than 20 years of practice-based experience in investment banking, financial consulting, direct private market and foundation investing, economic development finance, and renewable energy. He has taught courses in finance, strategy, governance and leadership, and urban and economic development policy at Milano and is a faculty lab advisor in the Urban Policy Analysis and Urban Policy Lab Courses. He specializes in scalable for-profit and not-for-profit entrepreneurial business models, renewable energy, strategy, leadership and governance. He also is deeply interested in case method teaching, using technology to enhance pedagogy and mentoring entrepreneurs. He was previously a visiting senior lecturer at the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University, and is a Fellows Program Mentor at The Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship at MIT.
