Cactus
Mumbai has an estimated population of 22 million people, more than half of whom do not have rights to permanent housing. Outside this official count, 0.3 million urban squatters remain invisible as they maneuver through the city without a roof over their head. Cactus aims to develop a durable, cost-effective, and portable living space for individuals and families who lack permanent shelter and are forced to continually relocate. This venture aims to alleviate some of the worst symptoms of urban homelessness and transience while creating a new dialogue that addresses this complex epidemic at systemic level.
