Anna Lathrop

Transdisciplinary Design (MFA), Parsons School of Design

Anna Lathrop is a visual artist and designer based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work is rooted in Theatre of the Oppressed pedagogy and decentering Western visual narratives in design. She has designed graphics and visual identities for various companies and non-profits and is a volunteer designer with Catchafire in association with Patagonia. She is the co-founder of GROUNDWATER ARTS, a consulting group advising arts institutions through a climate justice lens. She is also the co-creator and visual designer of LET’S TALK, a soon-to-be-launched Instagram-native animated infographic detailing the neurological and cultural effects of trauma. Upcoming work includes the visual identity for THE EARTH, THAT IS SUFFICIENT, a long-term performance project in Washington, DC.

What is the unmet social or environmental need you intend to address?

I and my collaborator are seeking to provide free and open-access education resources for survivors of trauma and people who care about and for survivors of trauma.

What most excites you about participating in the Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship?

I’m most excited to learn from my fellow cohort members and collaboratively support each others’ work!

What most excites you about Impact Entrepreneurship in general?

I’m excited by the acknowledgement that there are multiple ways to address unmet social needs and that we are given the resources to think radically outside the box.

Where do you think you need the most support regarding your venture concept?

I imagine that the most support I will need is first, building infrastructure within the project to make it sustainable outside of our individual vision, and then secondly, the funding to give us the freedom to concentrate on scaling the project up.
