Joseph Gonzales
Media Management (MS), Schools of Public Engagement
Joseph was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and grew up in a Filipino immigrant family. His passion for media flourished during high school when we was the lead writer for his high school’s broadcasting program KCHS. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies at the College of Wooster where much of his research revolved around diversity in media. Joseph received Honors on his senior thesis titled “The First but Hopefully Not the Last: How The Last of Us Redefines the Survival Horror Video Game Genre”, in which he analyzed the narrative elements of The Last of Us in relation to its situated genre. Joseph looks to eventually work in film distribution or film producing.
What is the unmet social or environmental need you intend to address?
With conversations arising in Hollywood in regards to diversity, I am looking to create a venture that gives resources to young Asian-American filmmakers and actors to pursue their interests in film and consider it as a future career.
What most excites you about participating in the Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship?
I am excited to work closely with my fellow cohort members in creating ventures that makes positive changes to society and the global environment.
What most excites you about Impact Entrepreneurship in general?
I am excited to see what ideas other people in my cohort have regarding their ventures.
Where do you think you need the most support regarding your venture concept?
I definitely need the opinions and guidance from both my fellow peers and mentors regarding my venture idea to develop it further.
