Media Studies (MA), Schools of Public Engagement

MA in Media Studies. Savannah has a BA from Michigan State University in Media and Information with a minors in Film Studies and Fiction Film Production. During their time in undergrad they created films and media centering queer black narratives. Their second film “Don’t Touch Me” was shown in several festivals around the country as well as at the Fringe! Queer Arts Festival in London. Since graduating in 2016 Savannah has helped found Nameless Collective, an art collective committed to empowering artists of marginalized identities. As well as working with local artists in Lansing. Michigan to create “Such Busy Queers,” a six part web series that portrays the DIY community in Lansing.  

 

What is the unmet social or environmental need you intend to address?

I hope to create media and platforms that give space to queer and trans people of color.

 

What most excites you about participating in the Impact Entrepreneurship Fellowship?

What excites me the most about the fellowship is having a community to be able to grow and learn with.

 

What most excites you about Impact Entrepreneurship in general?

Learning and applying entrepreneurial skills to help my community.

 

Where do you think you need the most support regarding your venture concept?

Finding and creating space/resources for queer and trans individuals.
