Impact Entrepreneurship

MEET OUR MENTOR: KATHARINE SPOONER, GROWTH EQUITY INVESTOR FOCUSED ON EUROPEAN CONSUMER BRANDS, SOFTWARE COMPANIES & MARKETPLACES

What does impact entrepreneurship mean to you? Is it different from being a “regular” entrepreneur? How so?

Impact entrepreneurship is meaningful because it purposefully and deliberately drives societal change. Often, however, there is substantial overlap with “regular” entrepreneurship, for example, circular economy marketplaces that boost sustainability and improve consumer habits.

From your experience, what is the biggest obstacle young entrepreneurs face? Any advice for them?

I think right now it can be challenging to get capital – in the last few months, we really see fewer and fewer cheques written at the early stage (pre-Series B). That said, great companies endure no matter the market conditions, so my advice for young entrepreneurs is to keep persisting in pitches with investors.

Where can we find you? How can we support you?

Please connect with me on LinkedIn! I love hearing from entrepreneurs and do my best to reply to them.
