MENTOR SPOTLIGHT: ALLIE MIROSEVIC @ BLISS’D
When did you know you wanted to take an entrepreneurial path?
For most of my adult life, I have wanted to be an entrepreneur. I can’t really explain it other than an internal feeling I’ve had for along time! I’m motivated by my dreams – I have big dreams and a belief that with work, determination, and a healthy mindset, I can create the life of my dreams (even if some of those dreams shift or don’t go as planned!).
I’m also motivated by my kids, and wanting to spend more time with them by building a life of flexibility and freedom, and showing them that anything is possible.
Tell us about your venture/work!
I’m the founder of Bliss’d, which is a self-care company that helps moms live more joyful, connected and fulfilling lives through the power of journaling. I discovered my love for journaling after the birth of my son in 2019 when I experienced postpartum depression. At the suggestion of my therapist, I started journaling as an additional tool to help me get through it (alongside medicine). Both helped immensely – and journaling stuck (long after the meds finished)!
However, I couldn’t find an easy-to-use, inspirational 5-minute guided journal that could be used at any time of day (which is so important for a mom!) so I decided to create one – our Anytime Reflection Journal! It’s the exact format I’ve used for years to help me start and maintain an effective journaling practice to reduce stress and anxiety, improve my mindset and feel more grateful.
I’m creating an entire line of easy-to-use gratitude journals that all speak to my mission – I recently launched our second journal, which is an interactive gratitude journal for families!
How did you decide to tackle this particular issue?
I really found my purpose with my business during that first (challenging) postpartum time. I actually started Bliss’d in 2018 (!!) as a bath salt company. While self-care has always been at the root of Bliss’d, it wasn’t until I got pregnant and had my son in 2019 that I discovered my true WHY for Bliss’d – and then it took me another 3 years to get the wheels in motion for this current version (they say slow and steady wins the race, right?!)
Becoming a mom made me realize self-care is so much more than baths and relaxation (though those things are helpful, too)! It’s also journaling, healing, doing the work, getting to know yourself and personal growth!
What do you enjoy most about being an impact entrepreneur? What’s hardest about it?
What I enjoy most is the deep sense of purpose that comes with pursuing my passion and making a positive difference in the world. I really believe in my products and my mission, and hearing about the positive impact they have on people’s lives is really rewarding and fulfilling.
The hardest part of being an impact entrepreneur is navigating the challenges and obstacles that inevitably arise along the way. From financial constraints to overcoming self-doubt, it requires resilience and perseverance to stay focused on my mission and overcome these hurdles. Knowing that my products have the potential to create meaningful change makes it all worthwhile.
How do you navigate the space of being a founder and also being a POC/women/non-binary person?
Joining aligned female founder organizations has been instrumental for me on this path of entrepreneurship – both in expanding my network for business opportunities and also in helping to not feeling so isolated on the path of entrepreneurship. My number 1 tip!! Especially if you don’t have many people in your circle in this space already!
