Scott Peltzer
Scott Peltzer is a life-long woodworker and maker of things, Scott began his professional career in NYC as an apprentice furniture maker in 1984. He has since nurtured his love of art, design, making, teaching and social entrepreneurship through the pursuit of an MFA, part time teaching gigs, and the co-founding of Brooklyn Woods, a not for profit workforce development organization. Brooklyn Woods trains unemployed and underemployed New Yorkers for entry-level jobs in the architectural woodworking and furniture manufacturing industry. He also started a mission driven social venture cabinet manufacturing division that gives program graduates the opportunity to earn an income while receiving additional training and job experience. Clients include affordable housing developers Habitat for Humanity, NYC, The Hudson Companies, and Dunn Development. Brooklyn Woods merged with Brooklyn Workforce Innovations in 2006. Scott has been part-time faculty at Parsons since 1996.
