Michelle Shevin

Michelle Shevin is a technologist, researcher, and strategist obsessed with shifting systems and the interplay of technological, regulatory, and cultural change. She is currently a Tech Fellow at the Ford Foundation, where she supports philanthropic strategy, youth-focused social justice field-building, and grantees in grappling with the interplay of technological, cultural, and regulatory forces. Prior to joining the Ford Foundation, she worked in technology futurism, open innovation, and strategy consulting, helping organizations, innovators, and institutions across sectors adapt and thrive. Past work has included investigating the future of automation for the National Intelligence Council, advising nonprofits on strategies to enhance the sustainability of their work, developing prize incentives to speed the path of translational research, and collaborating with the civic tech ecosystem in NYC. At Ford, she helps to inform both strategy and tactics, with a perspective honed from systems thinking and human-centric technology analysis. She writes on Medium @michebox on ethics, long-term thinking, and the big picture. She holds an MA in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and a BA in Anthropology: Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology from Barnard College, Columbia University.
