How long have you been working on your venture? Why did you decide to work on something impact related?

I’m inspired by the  Ghanaian Adinkra symbol Sankofa which translates to “one must return to the past in order to move forward.” Creating unity between our people is a great way to create economic freedom and reliability on ourselves.

How did you find out you wanted to take an entrepreneurial path? What was the first fundamental shift that happened to you as an early impact entrepreneur?

I always knew I wanted to work for myself and dedicate my time to things that matter to me and building a bridge to connect Africans on the continent with descendants in the Diaspora is a true passion and privilege to have the ability to create this community and support my culture.

What do you enjoy most about being an impact entrepreneur? What are the main challenges?

I really feel spirit-led to do this work. And I think that’s why the energy in the spaces we create, whether its events or digital networks there is a palpable electric and authentic feeling. I love transforming peoples minds and way of thinking when it comes to Africa. The biggest challenge is the copious amount of educating I have to do within my own people and sometimes they don’t realize how much of a necessity it is to connect.

What advice do you have for early-stage impact entrepreneurs about using their time and relationships to prepare for this kind of career? What would you tell to your younger self?

I would tell my younger self to utilize all your social capital unashamedly. We all need each other at some point in life so stay humble but be very strategic in how and who you ask for support. Whether financial or mentorship.
