Parsons’ School of Fashion ‘Here and Now’ Celebrates the Class of 2020
The School of Fashion at Parsons School of Design presents Here and Now, a virtual celebration of fashion program graduates that showcases their innovative, creative, and groundbreaking achievements. The website allows more than 300 graduating students to share their work with a global audience for an extended period of time. Here and Now is a companion to the Parsons Festival website that launched earlier this summer to celebrate the work of recent graduates from students across Parsons School of Design. Both Here and Now and the Parsons Festival websites will be accessible through the fall.
On display are student thesis collections from each of the fashion programs — BFA Fashion Design, MFA Textiles, AAS Fashion Marketing & Communication, AAS Fashion Design, and MPS Fashion Management — that demonstrate how they are reimagining the fashion system. Projects include exploring new ideas for sustainable textiles and upcycling, finding new opportunities for retail and e-commerce, and exploring how to infuse their own cultures and experiences into their designs.
The creation of Here and Now is in response to the coronavirus pandemic, which created unique challenges for the fashion program. The initial plan of transforming 13th street into a runway was rapidly reimagined as an online platform that displays the resiliency, innovation, and ingenuity of the fashion and creative community.
Visit Here and Now and the Parsons Festival website to enjoy these outstanding examples of the creative and intellectual achievements of Parsons’ Class of 2020.
