The Julien J. Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs had the pleasure of hosting Erik K. Ward, the first ever the first-ever American recipient of the international award the Civil Courage Prize. Ward, an expert on the relationship between authoritarian movements, hate violence, and preserving inclusive democracy, discussed the dangerous proliferation of hate crimes and political violence by extremist groups in the United States.

Find the event recording below with opening remarks by New School President Dwight McBride.

Mr. Ward is joined by Margaret Huang, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Poverty Law Center.
