ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

While attending the New School, I participated in the UN Summer Study program and did a practicum with a partner at UNDP on digital solutions for migrants. This led to an internship at UNDP. While finishing my final year at GPIA, I interned for UNDP’s Small Island Developing States team, supporting the team in developing their policy offer for Small Island Developing States.
After two great years at GPIA, I was fortunate enough to be offered a consultant position for that same team at UNDP.
Since then, I moved on to a position at the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the United Nations in New York City, where I’ve been for two years. I work as a Policy Advisor and team coordinator on the sustainable development team. I cover many issues, including the follow-up process to the UN 2030 Agenda, including the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development or HLPF. I am also responsible for the Permanent Mission’s partnership with UNICEF and UN Women at the headquarters level. My daily tasks vary from participating in intergovernmental negotiations and planning ministerial visits and high-level events, to following the Executive Board meetings of UNICEF and UN Women. Working with colleagues from across the world daily is incredibly enriching.
The unique connections and experiences I gained at GPIA – including faculty, peers, and external partners – helped kick-started my career in international affairs and are the reason I’ve landed where I am today.
