She was previously the Head of Creative for Greenpeace Australia Pacific, leading the creation of content and storytelling for campaigns. Ella now works in environmental philanthropy, as the Impact Lead for the Gum Tree Foundation.

Sarah El-Shaarawi is a writer, editor, researcher, and educator whose current work focuses on climate change, energy, communication and the Arab region. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications including Foreign Policy, Nature, Newsweek Middle East, the National, the Tyee and the Cairo Review of Global Affairs, among others. She is also a frequent contributor to Africa is a Country. El-Shaarawi was the recipient of the 2022 Dalton Camp Award for her essay “The Similarities between Red and Yellow”.
