Call for National Writing Jurors for the 2019 Scholastic Writing Awards

NATIONAL WRITING JURORS NEEDED FOR THE 2019 SCHOLASTIC WRITING AWARDS 

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, in partnership with The New School, seeks writers and literary professionals to serve as jurors for the national level of the 2019 Scholastic Writing Awards. Jurors should be enthusiastic readers, with the ability to adjudicate the work of high school students in a handful of the following categories: Critical Essay, Dramatic Script, Flash Fiction, Humor Writing, Journalism, Personal Essay & Memoir, Poetry, Science Fiction & Fantasy, and Writing Portfolio (submitted by graduating seniors).

When: January 26–27 (Saturday and/or Sunday)

Where: The New School University Center, 63 Fifth Avenue

Where: Pratt Institute Library, 200 Willoughby Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Jurors are offered a $100 honorarium at the end of each day in the form of an American Express Gift Card as a thank you for participating. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provided opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program, and become a part of our community–young artists and writers, filmmakers and photographers, poets, and sculptors—along with countless educators who support and encourage the creative process.
