WORKSHOP: ‘VR and Generative AI of Extraordinary Experiences Can Reignite Your Creativity’ by Professor Virgil Wong and Daniel Ryan
One of my students had suffered a cardiac arrest. Physicians said she should have felt confusion or disorientation from lack of oxygen, but she had a moment of absolute clarity.
“I floated outside my body,” she said. “I flew through a dark tunnel, saw my dead grandparents … and felt unconditional love. It was as real, even more real, as talking to you now.”
Over the next decade, I interviewed similar patients and studied how near-death experiences (NDEs) transformed their lives. Overwhelmingly, people reported feeling more creative, positive and engaged. Based on my VR work for healthcare, I wondered if digital simulations of these extraordinary events could have the same effect.
Starting on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, regression therapist Daniel Ryan and I are offering a 5-week online workshop to share practical applications of our research – using meditation, hypnosis, VR, and generative AI technologies.
Through 20 years of teaching at The New School, I’ve seen first-hand how visualizations and new technologies can unlock our creative potential.
I’m excited to work with artists, students, alumni, faculty, staff, or others interested in using these tools to explore seemingly supernatural phenomena. We’ll even have a live séance over Zoom with medium Vaydra Snow Alexander!
Hope to see you at our online sessions.
