EVENT: Bowery Film Festival November 7th – 10th, 2023, Co-foundered by Alum Ken Anderson

November 7-10th, 2023: Bowery Film Festival returns for its 6ᵗʰ year with over 44 selections and 4 feature films, including Metamorphosis, directed by Jonathon Kimble, and The Last Passenger directed by Takashi Horie. The festival includes a marketing & distribution panel discussion with Michael Tuckman, Douglas Holloway, and Mark Walton, who is an Associate Professor of the Professional Practice in Media Management at The New School.

The closing night awards will take place at Agora Gallery in Chelsea, in partnership with the West Chelsea Festival of Arts, who is presenting over one hundred artists coming together to present a spectacle of art in the historic West Chelsea Gallery District.

Ken Anderson, alum of the Media Studies program, co-foundered the Bowery Film Festival. He was drawn to The New School for the opportunity to create films that are experimental and edgy — films that don’t fit the “traditional” film school mold, and that’s the same approach he has taken with the festival. The 2023 Bowery Film Festival will bring together filmmakers from across the country and around the world with an artistic, radical and rock & roll vibe that’s been our trademark since our inception in 2018.

The Bowery Film Festival’s mission is to promote films and videos that further the art of storytelling by inspiring and championing the work of writers, filmmakers, and artists who push the envelope and take bold risks with the visual medium. We showcase films that dissent radically in form, technique, or content from the mainstream and present adventurous works that challenge and transcend commercial and audience expectations.
