Behind the Scenes with Celluloid Dreams

A course called “Celluloid Dreams: Projects in 16mm”, taught by part-time faculty member Vandana Nagaraj, saw several media studies students collaborate to create behind-the-scenes footage of their class shoots, all filmed on 16mm using a Bolex and Arriflex SR cameras.

Alongside learning to shoot on celluloid, the students in this class had an opportunity to tour the Kodak lab in Long Island City, witnessing a professional chemical development process. They are grateful to Kodak for donating dummy rolls to practice loading the ARRI magazines and for a successful final screening of the classes work at the Millennium Film Workshop, which took place recently in Brooklyn.
