Melissa Friedling Named the 2023 Elodie Osborn Fellow from MacDowell

Melissa Friedling, Director of Media Studies and Associate Professor of Filmmaking, was awarded a MacDowell fellowship in 2023 to work on her experimental nonfiction feature film project, “Midwood Movie”, and was in residence during July and August. 

Founded in 1907, MacDowell is an artist’s residency program in Peterborough, New Hampshire. MacDowell fellows include the winners of at least 101 Pulitzer Prizes, 33 National Book Awards, 31 Tony Awards, 34 MacArthur Fellowships, 18 Grammys, 9 Oscars, 938 Guggenheim Fellowships, and 122 Rome Prizes.  

Since 2018, one artist has been selected from the previous year’s MacDowell fellowship recipients to be named the Elodie Osborn Fellow, an honor recognizing an artist working in film and video arts.
