Media Management Program Presents: What it takes to win an Oscar; the business behind the awards

Actors, directors, writers and others who worked on last year’s top movies including Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Killers of the Flower Moon will bask in the spotlight at the annual Oscar telecast that will take place on March 10. But if they’re honest, they’d acknowledge that they owe much of their glory to a relatively small group of strategists who wage the Oscar wars — some of Hollywood’s most expensive and bitterly fought marketing battles.

What does it take to win? Join us on March 6 to meet Stacey Farish, one of the most successful veterans of these campaigns from her 15 years masterminding ad sales and events for Deadline.com, Gold Derby, The Wrap, and the Los Angeles Times.

With moderator David Lieberman, Associate Professor in Media Management, Stacey will discuss — and answer your questions about — the content strategies filmmakers and marketers use to shape and communicate messages that appeal to the voters who determine who wins Hollywood’s most coveted prize.

Register here to join us on Zoom on Wednesday, March 6 at 12:00pm EDT for What it takes to win an Oscar; the business behind the awards
