Professor Fabiola Hanna is a Recipient of the 2024 Distinguished University Teaching Award and Faculty Marshal

Fabiola Hanna, Assistant Professor of Emerging Media, received the 2024 Award for Outstanding Achievements in Social Justice Teaching this year!

Faculty were nominated by their students and colleagues, and recommended for awards by a committee of faculty–themselves prior teaching award recipients–and student representatives. Each faculty honoree will be recognized at University Commencement on Friday, May 17

Since 1988, the Distinguished University Teaching Award has recognized the most outstanding teachers across the university. These faculty embody the highest standards for teaching and advance our mission and vision through their remarkable capacity to inspire critical engagement with ideas and with the world. Established in 2014, the Award for Outstanding Achievements in Social Justice Teaching recognizes members of our faculty who significantly advance social justice through their teaching.

‌The Faculty Marshal recognizes a faculty member for their outstanding contributions to the university through their long-standing service, leadership, dedication to our students, and their lived commitment to The New School’s principles and values. It is a tradition in higher education for the Faculty Marshal, carrying a symbolic mace, to lead the procession of university leadership and faculty into the Commencement ceremony.
