Cine Frecuencias is a Radical Take on Cinema and Society
Cine Frecuencias is a Spanish-language radio program on radionopal.com, hosted by alum Mariana Sanson (Media Studies ’21). The show offers a critical and independent perspective on cinema, analyzing film beyond commercial trends and mainstream festivals. Inspired by John Berger and Paulo Freire, it explores the political, social, and cultural dimensions of cinema, emphasizing its role as a tool for critical thinking and social awareness.
With extensive experience in media and film, Sanson, an alum of The New School’s Media Studies program (Class of 2021), has worked with leading cultural organizations and film festivals. As Communications Manager at Chicken & Egg Films, she continues to support underrepresented filmmakers. Through Cine Frecuencias, she fosters discussions that challenge dominant narratives and encourage deeper engagement with cinema as a reflection of society.
The show airs in Spanish every last Tuesday of the month at 9:00 PM CT on radionopal.com, with previous episodes available on Mixcloud.
