Non-Stick Nostalgia Film Series

March 21–April 18

Accompanying MAD’s spring exhibition Non-Stick Nostalgia: Y2K Retrofuturism in Contemporary Jewelry, eight exciting works of transgressive, science-fiction filmmaking. From groundbreaking animated films like Ghost in the Shell and the cult classic Hackers to Luc Besson’s intergalactic extravaganza, The Fifth Element, the series surveys the fears and hopes of a world hurtling toward Y2K and the millennium beyond. First up: Robert Longo’s directorial debut, Johnny Mnemonic, on March 21 at 6:30 pm.
