
Faculty Member Joel Neville Anderson has Article Published in Studies in Documentary Film
Facuty member Joel Neville Anderson’s article “Home Birth, World Cinema: Kawase Naomi’s Personal Filmmaking in Circulation” will be included in the upcoming special issue of Studies in Documentary Film, “First Person Documentary Practices in East and Southeast Asia: Performing Subjectivity, Memory Construction, and Social Intervention” guest edited by Kiki Tianqi Yu and Alisa Lebow.
Joel presented his talk “Floating Invaders: Autonomous Vehicles in the Unceded Territories of Nuclear Warfare’s Pre-History” in the panel “Cinema and Ecology in Japan” and participated in the seminar “Cinema, Media, and Self-Images” at the Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS), March 13-17, 2019.
He also presented his talk “LaToya Ruby Frazier and the Place of the Artist in Social Documentary” and served as panel chair for “Circulating Subjectivities and the Political Environments of Documentary” at Visible Evidence XXV held at the Center for Documentary Research and Practice at Indiana University, August 8-11, 2018.
